New Studio Headquarters
Developers, Learig (Cambridge) Limited, have today announced that they will shortly be submitting a Planning Application for a headquarters office building for Ninja Theory Limited on the site of the former 5 Bells Public House and shops and commercial premises owned and occupied for many years by Discount Auto Parts.
As was announced recently, the development will include a replacement for the 5 Bells Public House and a 1,176 sq. ft. community pub is proposed at the corner of Abbey Street and Newmarket Road.
The proposed development will also provide for a 2.33m set back from the public highway to facilitate future arterial route highway improvements which is a concession the Landowners and Developers have made at the request of the County Council and Local Planning Authority.
Ninja Theory Limited have been seeking to identify a location where they could have a bespoke headquarters building constructed. They were incorporated in Cambridge in 2004 and have created games for global brands such as Disney, Star Wars and Marvel.
Nina Kristensen of Ninja Theory Limited commented “The opportunity to work with Learig to create a bespoke office building in line with our unique requirements will enable our company to remain within the centre of Cambridge and continue to recruit the best local talent as well as some of the best game developers in the world. Operating the Public House expands on our community culture and will enable us to further integrate with the local community.”
Simon Dazeley of Learig said “We are delighted to be working with the Landowners and Ninja Theory Limited. These proposals are the culmination of close consultation over the proposed development with Planning and Urban Design Case Officers at Cambridge City Council. We are delighted with the proposals, which are Policy Compliant, and will, we believe, enhance this area of Newmarket Road both visually and by way of increasing the amenities available to the community. It is gratifying to be able to help a local, but world class company expand in this way.”
Ninja Theory Limited is being advised throughout by Carter Jonas LLP.
