i think pre-order wise, for obvious reasons i think they havent announced the release date yet. i think they are waiting until E3 now which isnt that far away where they will have some type interesting event to launch the game with Hideaki Itsuno etc.

DMC4 sold about 2.5 mil copies. so we can asssume the game will optimistically sell about this many copies. i think it has the potential for more if they prepare a Wii U release. i think thats what they could be waiting for E3 to announce. its only a month to go until E3. if the game is coming this year, which is it, they will have to announce the date there.

Whether Cod is a good or bad example doesn't really matter. If Dmc is being released in q4 it still places it in the same area along with the likes of Halo 4 and so on regardless. My point is there are other franchises with much stronger this gen brand strength already taking action because of the release date competition. Being on the shelves ahead of E3 can lead to people paying more interest in the game during E3 than they would otherwise. And, there is also the factor of general and casual gamers may not be interested in E3 to consider.

The thing is simply by having the game on the shelves helps the game market itself. In other words, if Capcom have put too much funding into the actual game they may not have the revenue to go with a big marketing campaign. Games like Cod, Halo, Resi 6, Ac 3 don't need big marketing campaigns because those games are strong to sell without out it, Dmc isn't

If they don't give a release date at E3 with what is being done with other franchises then Capcom are being fools to themselves.

    Side Note

Bioshock Infinite has been delayed until Feb 2013. Levine wants to get things absolutely spot on due to the size of the game being bigger than anything they've done before. And, doing things which have never been done before in a fps.

I was sorry to hear that but knowing a few of the guys at Irrational it is for the best. And, it does get Infinite out of the way of Black Ops and co which is an added bonus.

A story which is identically experienced by every other player of a game is far less powerful than one that is unique to the individual.
