Heavenly Sword 2 WAS in Development... But Cancelled!

New information has come to light regarding the cult hit Heavenly Sword. According to one person's CV a sequel was in production during 2008, but for reasons unknown to us was cancelled.

It seems a little thin to go on since a persons CV dosent hold much weight in my eyes. Its not like NT have come foward with that information.

I seem to remember that they had rumoured ideas for possible sequels but for whatever reasons didnt go ahead with it.

The best thing about HS (imo) was the characterisation of Nariko. To be honest I'm not that cut up about the cancellation, they went on to do Enslaved, which I felt was much better.

Pretty sure that's old news. At least, I remember hearing that they (not NT, but the other Cambridge studio that worked with NT on HS) were working on something in earlier 2008 before it was cancelled. Maybe it's the first time we heard that NT themselves were working on it.

No, I'm sure I heard in an interview once that the reason a sequel wasn't made was because they literally 'weren't' allowed to make it. I can't remember the details, but I think it was something to do with Sony being the publisher, owning it...something like that. It was brought up during an audio review on Enslaved. I wish I could remember where the interview was or I'd fish it out for you.

Apparently there's been a supposed leak of Heavenly Sword 2 concept art HERE.

Considering the fact that NT stated they'd start working on a new title earlier this year I wouldn't be surprised if this turned out to be true. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if this turned out to be false as well. But if HS2 is being made I do hope NT is behind it.

The art was fantasic and I was intrigued by the idea of Kai trying to break nariko out of hell.

The only thing stopping nt is the terms of their deal with cap com because they could end up a cap com only development team.

I would love if ninja theory would make heavenly sword 2. They are such a talented team and the series has so much potential. Sad that the game didn't sell as much back in 07 but the ps3 was relatively new and much more expensive at the time. PLEASE MAKE HS2!!!
