But otherwise, i do agree with you.

Though from the latest Captivate trailer i hope to God Dante doesn't start acting like DMC 3 Dante throughout the whole game. He HAS to mature. Anything, i tend to prefer him in the demo cutscenes then that actual trailer.

    Also...they changed his face a bit...he looks...ugly in some angles >_>
Really, that was my biggest concern with this new trailer..Though i kinda was expecting this, seeing as this is a reboot, so this Dante's personality would be similar to Dante in DMC3.

Dante in DMC3 was waaaay too cocky..people bashed DMC2 because Dante was the silent type, then in DMC3 capcom went trough the roof with all that cockyness. He wasn't cool, he felt more like an idiot. DMC4 Dante was even worst, as if he was 12 or something. Capcom seemed to forget that Dante was older in that game.

Still, i'm confident we will have a "complete" character in DmC. taken from the IGN preview:

"Dante himself, always one of gaming's great anti-heroes, is more of a character in DmC than he ever has been before – largely because he has faults. Central to his character, explains Tameem, is the concept that he's not just a cool guy who does cool stuff, but a real person with history and personality behind all that attitude, albeit a person who fights demons with his top off on a day to day basis. He's got all the cool and sex appeal of his older, suaver self, but he's rougher around the edges: he really throws himself around during combos, stumbles slightly after weighty strikes, swears when he's hit, and often behaves like a bit of a dick, but that vaguely adolescent roguishness actually makes him more likeable. Everybody likes a bad boy. "

Also, that is also why i think its better if he's not too pretty lool makes it more beliavable maybe? I mean Nero and Dante in DMC4 look a bit too perfect xD almost like dolls

I hate when people use this kind of defence in arguments about the new Dante. Saying "it sucked before too" is redundant. Almost as annoying as ignorant AlphaOmegasin's rants.
It depends on how you use it because I've used the "Dante was a ******* and sadistic in the old series too" argument before.

A great insight into what the previous DMCs really were.

I agree, people complaining about the queer-factors is just stupid.

Though I have to disagree with the later bit. I think bringing Nero in in DMC4 was terrible. All it does bringing in new chars is divide the community, "so and so can beat..." Just look at Prototype 2. Half love Mercer and half want Heller to beat him - without really trying to like the games for what they are and what they/will deliver.
    Best depiction of Dante yet.

Vaguely adolescent? That's not what I'd class as vague. More likeable to who exactly?

    Sex appeal..... what...

I'm with Vampi on this he needs to mature over the course of the game. Otherwise, I can't see him appealling to the more mature gamers. From what I've seen so far I'd be happier being able to punch his lights out than play as him. As in assume the role of the character which this type of storytelling requires.

A story which is identically experienced by every other player of a game is far less powerful than one that is unique to the individual.

Nero didn't bring divide into the community since alot of people pit Dante against Vergil everytime anyway. Nero was just unnecessary and brought more plotholes while also seemingly conveying Vergil as some whoremonger. If Nero was a Sparda clone (which would be a better explanation for his origin) then i would accept him somewhat. But i still don't consider Nero that interesting because his life isn't that tragic unlike Dante and Vergil's. So he's not interesting.

Shatterstar: He already answered your question.

Lets just say I was expecting more along the lines of Edward Norton's character in American History X.

I dunno mate. May be its my age and what I do for a job but Dante just doesn't strike me as what Nt are trying to portray. His whole persona in the trailer would be attributed to specific forms of abuse and I can't see Nt going there as it would cause more controversy than it would be worth.

I don't mind if i start off playing as someone like him..but i want to see him change throughout the game..i want to see him learn something from the events of the game.

In anycase, i liked the TGS 2010 Dante better. The angry attitude was cooler..the outfit was cooler to lol

but oh well, lets see what happens...

I still don't see Dante portrayed as being angry really. He acts very normal.

Apollo: Tameem has emphasized in all the recent video interviews that they want to build Dante's character. So thus why i hope he matures in the end or maybe during the middle of the game. I don't have a problem with his character thus far, the only thing i didn't like about the Captivate trailer was the scenario he was in (with the zero gravity putting clothes on thing). It just didn't fit the essence of the other trailers.

Anyway, i hope everyone knows that alot of key moments were edited in that trailer. Kat is in that scene in the carnival as well, so maybe we might get an extended trailer soon...hopefully.
