If you've never seen it, it's easier to think of it as a very fast way to cancel and reset whatever you're doing in the air. It takes less than a quarter second.
If there's an aerial move you can only do once or that leaves you somewhat frozen (like Dante's Helm Breaker), you can Jump Cancel and quickly follow up with whatever you'd like. This is a staple for pro DMC players.

They're both one in the same. You have to use Enemy Step in order to Jump-cancel. DMC3 had Enemy Step by default (though it didn't have a name...it was just a mechanic in the game). DMC4 had you buy Enemy Step via upgrade and then you were able to Jump-cancel.

It's physics bro. You don't just step on someone and fall through them, you encounter resistance. And well, Dante is super human who can jump from a wall and sail a hundred feet before falling to the ground and not taking any damage. So I don't see the problem here.
    Best depiction of Dante yet.

im surprised that most people dont know what JC is on this board O_O

here's a tutorial for those that dont know how to properly use it. i suggest for the fans that dont know or use it well to try using JC more and to see how in depth DMC really is.

I've never been a fan of Jc-ing as it lets you spam way too much and abuse the weak a.i even further.

A story which is identically experienced by every other player of a game is far less powerful than one that is unique to the individual.

I really just use it to try doing some nice combos, and i believe that is the reason why anyone uses it really. I dont think theres much of an advantage in the game by using it..its not about defeating enemies, its about how you do it =P

Anyway, in my first playthrough i didn't even know about JC, and i didn't really care for it, since it felt really hard to perform. Its really good to know that theres JC in the game since i make use of it now, but i fully understand people who like the game but don't care for JC, also i believe newcomers to the series won't care much either. So saying the game will sell well because of it is an overstatement

Don't get me wrong I happy its in the game but I think it needs tweaking or the a.i does so it can't be used so readily. Besides, I'm a combo variety player, as in, I like to chain as many different moves as possible into one continuous combo.

that's exactly why i use JC....
The tutorial is just showing you basic ideas on using it because i understand what you mean by spamming the same move. It gets boring really fast.

Also having enemies that can counter JC wouldnt be a bad idea....thus creating more depth.

The enemy step, like in the previous games, can be performed at any point while not touching the ground. There's a small black cloud under Dante's feet when he does it successfully.

Also, I'd like DmC to sell well and make fans happy. But people on C-U or Gamefaqs constantly say this game will flop because they hate it. That's a silly assumption.

In reality, DmC can flop OR sell amazingly for reasons other than a very vocal group of people hating it. The inclusion of enemy step makes some people happy and all, but there's so much more that'll go into marketing this game.
I find this to be the most amusing aspect of the forums, fans, etc.

They kept saying things like theres no JC or enemy step, they were very vocal about that. then once we learn that JC is actully part of the game and demonstrated well in the demo they move onto something else.

its my opinion they arnt huge DMC fans anyway, they just jump on whatever bandwagon they see someone else do. i dont trust their opinions since their arguments go back to things like 'NT insulted fans', or they appear to know more about programming than NT or Capcom. are fans who keep falling back on inprecise arguments really credible... my thoughts are not really.

marketing wise, i dont have a high opinion of Capcom but they are a massive company, they will be sure to market the game well.
