This proves a DmC interview having substance to interview = a more positive reception.
Makes you wonder what things would have been like if DmC was announced when it was more complete. Although Dante may have kept his ugly face....
An eye for an eye....A tooth for a tooth, Burn to ashes!
I have the feeling the game we see today might have been quite different if the reveal had had a better reception.. Dante's redesign was quite substancial if you think about it..personaly i liked the old DmC design better, it felt more unique..but i'm okay with the redesign.
I like the part about satire. Its also nice to see this game is trying to send a message. Also, i bet there will be returning characters..just look at his face lol
From the self-entitlement of some DMC Fans...i doubt no matter what footage they shown at TGS 2010 would halt the bytching. They were gonna bytch either way because its Ninja Theory and Anti-DmC Fans have proclaimed for a "fact" that they can't make good action games. This whole fiasco when you really take a good look at it, has nothing to do with the actual game itself but about people being against NT. They just use the game as a red herring. I'm not saying to some Anti-DmC fans the game isn't an issue. But the majority who are against it use the game as a smokescreen to go against anything and all that is NT related.
I mean maybe NT changed a LOT of stuff because of all that hate, even if it doesnt seem that way.. "old" DmC Dante smoked (i didn't really cared much for that anyway), seemed to have more anger in him..the new one seems like he was made more "mainstream" for those.."true fans"..who knows! Just thinking out loud.
I still want that outfit in the game as a bonusits way too cool
But these anti-DmC fans are really running out of reasons to bash the game. Game looks smooth, Dante has personality, theres a good chance we will get a good narrative, there's JC..So what now?
It depends on what other elements were at play.
I think that fact of it still being a reboot and their take still being radically different would still ruffle feathers. It might have lessened tho.
Plus how the pr side was handled concerning the initial reveal at tgs and him being half angel plus other things that cause people to lose faith in nt and capcom.
So how they sell us on the product also matter.

That's just plain ignorance on their part then. My understanding is that critics loved Heavenly Sword because of it's bloated story and Enslaved was actually decent.
The issue I have is of course the story. Why take a character fans know and love and completely change them, alienating the fans that arguably made the game so popular? That's like Uwe Bowl-antics when it comes to making video games into movie adaptations.
Granted, I actually loved the Public Enemy trailer. It does seem like they've taken a great deal of criticism and formed changes based on that. Rebellion, while still different, is no longer a shape shifting weapon - instead they point out in gameplay that demon, angel, and Rebellion weapons are separate. One of my gripes about the very first trailer where Rebellion was doing crazy-Heavenly Sword-things. It was my argument that Dante made Rebellion great and not the opposite, he didn't need it to transform to do what he needed with it.
My only gripe at this point now is the whole Angel-half and how it comes into play. I'm against the notion of half-angel/half-demon because it's cliche' and I preferred the satire and message of being half human - holding true to franchise. Not that half-demon and human isn't cliche' itself of course but humanity was always a symbol of prey to demon kind. They're weak and feeble, yet at the same time all it took was one woman to love Sparda that caused him to sacrifice everything he was to save humanity. That to me was a powerful message - a statement to Mundus and was the reason he lost.
Best depiction of Dante yet.
NT did not change stuff because all of the hate imo. And even if they did, the change has been very subtle. The smoking thing wasn't that big of a deal to change to be honest, considering how Dante looks and now his origin. The only thing that's change substantially from what i've seen is the white patch from the Debut trailer which hasn't been seen since. It can probably still be there once you acquire the DT or later on in the game, who knows. If Capcom were gonna change anything from the hatred they would've canceled the game from the get-go and announce DMC 5, which didn't happen. I think people overestimate there influence on Capcom/NT.
Anti-DmC Fans will complain about ANYTHING even if it has the potential to be good. And also, even tho some of there reasons are good, they're pretty much irrelevant by now. This game isn't targeted towards them, you would think they would get the message now...
Well that character that people proclaim to know and love, they don't know at all. Dante's personality has been different throughout the series the only thing is i don't know why DmC isn't accepted while the originals are excused for Capcom's schizophrenic handling of the character. One game he's cool (DMC 1), another he's mute without any explanation onto why (DMC 2), one is where he's acting like an annoying surfer kid (DMC 3) and the last one is where he's supposedly in his early to mid 30's and repressing himself to his teenage personality. Its a total mishandling of the character. Also, i love DMC 1 Dante and some other people might love DMC 3 Dante or DMC 2 Dante, etc. So how would Capcom know which version of Dante every single DMC Fan knows and loves? Obviously DMC 3 Dante is popular, but at the same time it perplexes me that they miss that version yet bother the hell out of Hideki Kamiya on Twitter when none of those people even want his version of Dante back.
Its hard to pinpoint if Rebellion isn't a shape-shifter. Because the Sparda sword in DMC 1 changed into a spear and a scythe but yet it was still called the Sparda sword. I think Rebellion is still a shape-shirter since its a reflection of Dante's heritage (since he also DT's as well).Granted, I actually loved the Public Enemy trailer. It does seem like they've taken a great deal of criticism and formed changes based on that. Rebellion, while still different, is no longer a shape shifting weapon - instead they point out in gameplay that demon, angel, and Rebellion weapons are separate. It was my argument that Dante made Rebellion great and not the opposite, he didn't need it to transform to do what he needed with it.
Well what makes you think that DmC won't have a powerful message in it?My only gripe at this point now is the whole Angel-half and how it comes into play. Really? When has half-angel/half-demon been used in stories before? If anything, it's much less cliche (if even that) than being half human. It's seen everywhere in just about every mythology out there where you have someone who's half human mixed with another half that's supernatural. It's as if being half-human makes these characters stronger than even the strongest fully-supernatural beings (which has never made any logical sense to me). The powerful message you just brought up is something that's been used countless times before. It'd bring nothing new.
