Tools Programmer

You'll be developing, maintaining and supporting the technology and various tools required and used throughout the studio for our current and future projects. Taking an active part in the identification process of tools requirements and taking action where required to ensure minimal disruption and optimum efficiency of technology used and the game creation process overall, you'll be working with both tools and engine/gameplay programmers to develop in-house tools and technology as well as maintenance of the existing Unreal engine based toolset and build procedures.

The role will require you to be able to build, maintain and manage strong working relationships with other disciplines within the studio to ensure understanding of current requirements is maintained across all teams and the Tools Programming team support is on target throughout the whole process.

This will therefore need you to maintain both a detailed view of current technology/issues worked on as well as a bigger picture view of the whole engine pipeline to ensure problem solving when required is both adept and long-term in view. You'll be regularly testing, debugging and reviewing current tools too.

We'll want you to take an active part in team discussions, offering advice and suggestions for improving the tools support to the studio and ensuring suggestions remain positive and constructive. We'll also hope you'll contribute to wider studio discussions where appropriate ensuring the Tools team is well-represented and seen as helpful and knowledgeable whilst maintaining a realistic viewpoint.

It's important that you can maintain a flexible working practice - showing the ability and willingness to adapt to various requirements from each discipline and their tools, and to take advice from other disciplines and members of the programming team as required.

And of course thorough and effective documentation is crucial so you need to be comfortable with this aspect - both technical and user based.

To succeed in this role you'll need to demonstrate:

- Strong knowledge of C# and the .NET Framework

- Working knowledge of C++ and C and solid coding practices

- Highly adaptable to new programming languages and environments

- Proficient in Object-oriented design

- Good understanding of User Interface Design principles

- 3d programming experience with an understanding of 3d mathematics

- Good BSc or equivalent level of demonstrable knowledge in a relevant - subject (e.g. Computer Science, maths or physics)

- Demonstrable problem solving skills

- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate in both a technical and non-technical manner to get an idea/question understood

- Experience with technical design and communication

- Ability to write quality, maintainable code

- Good organisation and time management skills

- Self-motivated

- Ability to work as a positive, contributing team member

It would also be great to see (though not essential):

- Industry experience from games, movies or other multimedia

- Experience developing for next-gen platforms

- Experience with Windows Presentation Foundation

- Experience with SQL, web technologies

- Experience with Python or other higher level languages

- Experience using and developing for Maya or other art/animation packages

- Experience developing games tools or other user interfaces

- Experience with the Unreal Engine

- Experience with standard software processes (unit testing, continuous integration, etc)

To apply for this role please submit your CV and Cover letter (with salary expectations please & confirmation of your eligibility to work in the UK) to jobs@ninjatheory.com by Monday 20th September 2010. Please quote reference NT/TP/SEPT/10 in the subject bar. All applications will be reviewed after the closing date and we will be in touch shortly thereafter.

Hello, I just have a question about the localisation of Enslaved.

I'm living in France but I juste hate when dialogues are translated in games so I was just wondering if the game was going to be translated to french or if we would be able to choose which language we want (like in Uncharted 2).
If not I'll just have to order it from england :))

Missions
To date we have 4 campaign missions confirmed:

•Payback - Mission will feature a player-controlled helicopter, a Hind.
•Slaughterhouse – Set in Hue City, Vietnam during the Tet Offensive. Mission highlights include a SPAS-12 shotgun with Dragonsbreath Ammo (see our SPAS-12 summary), out of control rappelling scene from a Huey helicopter, SOG soldiers asserting their authority via commandeering friendly radio to call in air support. This campaign map was taken from multiplayer, as opposed to the traditional opposite.
•Victor Charlie – Set in Vietnam, the mission begins on the Huong River in a downed helicopter. Victor Charlie most likely references the Viet Cong, the main opposing force in this mission. Mission highlights include an M202 Rocket Launcher, underground tunnels and the return of Sgt. Reznov from World At War.
•WMD - Set in the Ural Mountains, in 1968. Mission highlights include flying in an SR-71 Blackbird recon plane, rappelling through a window set in the side of the mountain and a Military Crossbow with explosive bolts.
Characters
Here is a list of playable and non-playable characters that we know of so far:

•Hudson – Playable Character
•Mason – Playable Character
•Thomas – Playable Character (as the pilot of the SR-71 Blackbird in WMD)
•Frank Woods (The character with the bandana, seen in the trailers)
•Swift
•Weaver
•Brooks
•Harris
•Sgt. Reznov (previously seen in World at War)
Locations
Black Ops will send players to many spots across the globe, confirmed locations so far include:

•Vietnam
•Laos
•Cuba
•The Ural Mountains in Russia
•South America
Multiplayer
So far the general theme of development for Treyarch has been change. They are dedicated to bringing gamers a new and fresh Call of Duty experience, while retaining the time-honored gameplay that Call of Duty fans expect. There are many rumors flying around about Black Ops’ multiplayer gameplay, and may be viewed here, however we are only including what we know for certain.

Multiplayer Features
•PC will support dedicated servers.
•Treyarch has updated Create a Class into version 2.0, more customization options for character perks/weapons and possibly appearance.
•True Barebones playlist with no weapon attachments, perks, killstreak rewards, etc.
•Treyarch is including tools to let gamers take the Black Ops experience outside the game, many believe this to mean social networking options but details have not been made clear yet.
•Auto-aim may be toggled on or off.
•Vehicles will return, though not as we saw them in World at War.
•Region filter for matchmaking will return.
•Customizable killstreak rewards will return.
•Downloadable content for Call of Duty will first be available on XBOX 360 as it has been with Modern Warfare 2. This is part of a contract that ends in 2012.
•Treyarch’s MP team is twice the size of the team that worked on World at War.
•There will be a security team in place, post-launch, to help battle hackers, modders and cheaters.
•There are no maps in MP taken directly from the SP campaign, in fact the SP campaign map for the mission “Slaughterhouse” was taken from MP.
Factions
These factions may or may not make an appearance in Multiplayer. This information is based off of the Campaign mode.

The friendly MP factions/teams that we know of so far include:

•The Studies and Observations Group (SOG)
•The First Cavalry Division of the US Army
The enemy MP factions/teams that we know of so far include:

•The Viet Cong (VC)
•The North Vietnamese Army
•The Soviet Union Armed Forces
Killstreak Rewards

•3 kills – RC-XD – Controllable remote control car bomb
•4 kills – Care Package – Unsure of contents, dropped by Chinook chopper
•5 kills – Archangel – unsure of details
•Airstrike – either prototype Harriers or possibly the A1-Skyraider or the A4-Skyhawk, two popular fighter jets during the era, both by Douglas Aircraft Co
•Napalm drop
•The icon from World at War for an Artillery strike is visible on the minimap during the Multiplayer Teaser
•An unknown bomb/missile seen in HUD during Multiplayer Teaser
Perks

•Bling – presumed, not confirmed, CAR-15 has a flash suppressor and a red-dot sight during the multiplayer trailer
•Hardline – presumed, not confirmed, based on comments by Treyarch’s David Vonderhaar
•Overkill – presumed, not confirmed, it appears the player switches from his primary weapon to the crossbow, which is likely a primary in itself.
Bonus Experience Points

•Payback – kill the enemy who just killed you
•Buzzkill – end an enemies killstreak
•One Shot, One Kill – kill an enemy with one shot, presumably using a sniper rifle
•Skewer – kill an enemy with the Ballistic Knife
•Back Stabber – stab an enemy in the back
•First Blood – get the first kill of a round
Misc Gameplay

•Sprint to Prone Dive – players may now transition from sprinting to laying prone via a dive, rather than crouching and then laying prone.
•Updated HUD – no graphic for ammunition left in weapon, rather a number displayed – compass included – equipment in use highlighted in green? – mini-map divided into cells i.e. d3, d4, c3, c4.
•Film mode – players will be able to record / edit and combine clips into films. Exact details are not available yet.
Customization

•Callsigns – it appears that you can customize your callsigns, possibly through an in-game editor. Many of the callsigns in the Multiplayer Teaser seemed custom made.
•Weapons – many signs lead to belief of weapons customization. Guns can be seen in the MP teaser with clan tags etched into them, smiley face decals on them and with red-dot sights with a smiley face where the red dot would normally be.
Weapons/Equipment
Here is all that we know of weapons so far. Not necessarily in Campaign or Multiplayer, it is combined from the Campaign footage and the Multiplayer footage.

Confirmed Weapons
